So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye
Gabie Benson, Director of Development and PR

Today we say farewell to two strong, smart, and bold women who have dedicated a year of service to Girls Inc. through the AmeriCorps VISTA program.   Ashley Craig, Events Specialist, and Abri Hochstetler, Public Relations Specialist, came to Girls Inc. last November eager to learn.  But over the last several months that I’ve worked with them, I can say that I’ve learned just as much from them.

Ashley, our events guru, taught me to roll with the punches and just keep smiling.  Whether it was planning our fun filled staff campaign or this year’s record breaking Touchstone Awards, Ashley always knew how to keep her cool.  Her effortless enthusiasm is contagious.  While I will certainly miss Ashley’s fearless approach to conquering the task at hand, it is her heartfelt dedication to our mission that I will miss the most.  Thank you, Ashley, for your service, hard work, and friendship!

Abri, queen of all things social media, has one of those “get it done” attitudes that can’t be stopped.  When Abri started her VISTA service, public relations was really in its infancy at Girls Inc.  That didn’t last long! Abri has worked to develop an outstanding monthly publication, grown our social media presence to new heights, and helped introduce us to new people and service groups in the community.  Abri won’t be leaving us for too long.  I’m pleased to announce that Abri will be joining the Girls Inc. staff full-time as Public Relations Coordinator.

Not just anyone is cut out to be an AmeriCorps VISTA.  It takes a special person with a lot of loyalty, passion, and heart.  Ashley and Abri, you have both been amazing additions to our team.  Thank you!
