Moments of a Champion
Adrianne Slash, Program Support Coordinator

Picture it, a gymnasium with a volleyball net center court, six girls on each side, each playing their heart out. It’s the final point in the third of three games, each team is fighting for the last one. The ball is served by my teammate – this moment seems to last a lifetime. As the ball reaches the other side of the net the opposing team returns the ball immediately back to our side, which feels like it takes a nanosecond. My teammate then bumps the ball to the setter, the setter sets the ball to the outside hitter and I take the floor in anticipation of her hit being blocked. The final moments of this match are decided right here. Whether it comes back to me or not, we must be prepared for it all, and all possible scenarios are spinning through my mind. Next thing I know the referee blows her whistle. The match is over. It's at that moment I realize the spike was a success and they couldn’t return the ball – we win!

My challenge for you in March is to remember your championship moment – in sports or in life.
