Lunch Bunch Career Mentors
Christy Barlow, Director of Programs

Girls set career and educational goals with guidance from professional women

Girls need to hear the message that every career is a career for them to consider.  Career mentors can do just that.

Our Lunch Bunch program matches groups of girls (ages 9 to 18)  with professional female mentors of diverse backgrounds and careers.
Over a one-hour lunch, volunteer mentors share their career successes, challenges, and advice in a small group format.  Girls learn firsthand about careers they may have not known or had interest in prior to Lunch Bunch.

The group also participates in a hands-on activity, engaging both the volunteers and the girls.  The most popular activity is a matching card game during which girls match specific careers with the proper education, skill set, and things they can do now to prepare.  "Now when I get older, I will be ready for college," said Brooklynn, a Lunch Bunch participant.  "It was nice having [volunteers] here to help us with our choices."

Lunch Bunch is open to individuals, as well as corporate groups, able to provide a one-time, one hour long commitment.  Learn more about volunteering for Lunch Bunch or other volunteer opportunities!
