Holiday Activities for GirlsAbri Hochstetler, Public Relations Coordinator
Looking for something fun and engaging to do this holiday season with the girl in your life? Check out the list below for girl-friendly activities that can spark her interest and imagination:

- Stay active despite the weather with a swim at the Natatorium on the IUPUI campus or test your balance ice skating at the Indiana/World Skating Academy. Bundle up and walk The Canal or explore White River State Park and get lost in the winter wonderland of nature.
- Travel back to the 1930s-40s to celebrate Christmas at the Lilly House at the Indianapolis Museum of Art and pretend what life might be like for a girl back then. Expand your imagination with hands-on projects, explore your family tree, or participate in a scavenger hunt during Winterfest 2010 at the Indiana History Center.
- Dress up and enjoy tea with Mrs. Claus and Raggedy Ann at the Indiana State Museum or visit the Indianapolis Propylaeum for their 12 Days of Christmas Tea!
- Take a trip down the Yule Slide for the Jolly Days of Winter Wonderland at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis or learn about polar bears and penguins in the temporary exhibit. A visit on Christmas Eve is free from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.!
- Encourage the theatrical side of your girl with the two holiday classics “A Christmas Carol” presented by the IRT, and “The Nutcracker” performed by the Indianapolis School of Ballet. Then, reenact her favorite scene with her after the performance.
- Spark your creativity at home: cut one-of-a-kind snowflakes for window decoration, create a handprint wreath for a door, design holiday cards for friends, or build a strong, smart, and boldSM snow-woman in a yard or park!
Whatever activities you share with the girl in your life this holiday season, remember to encourage and empower her to be exactly who she is. Happy Holidays!
