Do you have a story to tell? Sign up to be a Lunch Bunch Career Mentor for Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis, and you'll get to share your personal career story while inspiring greater Indianapolis girls to reach their own professional goals.
Through the Lunch Bunch program, we expose greater Indianapolis girls, ages 9-14, to the wide variety of career paths that are available to them. Lunch Bunch programs are one-time opportunities, and are typically offered over a lunch hour. Career mentors serve as role models for girls by discussing their personal experience and leading a hands-on activity. We equip volunteers with staff support and a planned hands-on activity for the event, and volunteers simply share their expertise.
Who Is A Lunch Bunch Career Mentor?
Lunch Bunch Career Mentors are professional, career-oriented individuals who have enthusiasm, knowledge and advice about the professional world. Mentors equip girls with the tools they need to make wise decisions and empower girls with the belief that their career dreams are achievable.
Support to Volunteers
Girls Inc. provides:
• Individual matching to Lunch Bunch opportunities based on your interest and availability;
• A detailed confirmation email – with directions, parking options, and entrance instructions – sent one week prior to the program;
• Girls Inc. staff to greet you and support you during the program.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Girls Inc. volunteers must:
• Be willing to share the qualities that make you strong, smart, and boldSM with your group of girls;
• Provide their own lunch. Girls Inc. provides lunch for the girls;
• Agree to not supply their personal contact information (email, telephone, address, etc.) to any of the girls at the event;
• Complete required orientation before beginning volunteer service;
• Adhere to Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis' policies, mission, vision and standard operating procedures;
• Be punctual and prepared at all times.
Optional: Volunteers may bring promotional logo items from your employer; however, we ask that you bring enough items to share with all 40-60 girls in the program.
Lunch Bunch Career Mentor Time Commitment
Most of our Lunch Bunch programs last one hour and are scheduled on weekdays between 9 AM – 6 PM. We hope that all of our volunteers would consider making a one year commitment to Girls Inc., which would include two or three Lunch Bunch programs during the school year or summer camp.

Applicants must be 18 years of age and willing to:
• Complete a Volunteer Questionnaire with Girls Inc. staff;
• Allow us to perform a criminal history background check;
• Provide a list of references that will be able to tell us more about you;
• Complete a Lunch Bunch orientation that will inform you on what to expect at the program.
