Junior League of Indianapolis
Since 2009, the Junior League of Indianapolis (JLI) has partnered with Girls Inc. to make a positive difference in the lives of local girls. JLI members generously donate their time and talents to serve as volunteer program facilitators who lead hands-on programs at outreach sites across Indianapolis. Trained volunteers are an essential part of how Girls Inc. delivers programs to girls and we can’t thank the JLI enough for their support.
JLI volunteers have helped girls learn how to resolve conflict in our Work It Out program, fostered their positive self-esteem during Redefining Beauty, and put them on the path to financial independence with our Girls Inc. Economic Literacy® program. They serve as positive female role models for our girls and inspire them to be strong, smart, and bold!
JLI member Sarah McGuire has volunteered with Girls Inc. since August 2009 and has led seven programs. “I cannot say enough good things about Girls Inc.! As a member of the Junior League I feel that the Girls Inc. mission coincides and parallels the League’s vision and mission. In working with Girls Inc., I am developing the potential of the girls, and (hopefully!) acting as a catalyst for lasting change in their lives. As a program facilitator, although my interactions with the girls may be brief, I truly do feel that I am providing them with tools and thought processes to be strong, smart, and bold.”
From August 2009 to today, 53 JLI volunteers have led 131 programs for 1,965 girls and logged 3,358 volunteer hours! Their dedication to the girls in our community is truly inspiring! In addition to their significant contribution of volunteer support, the Junior League of Indianapolis has also provided much needed financial support over the years. We were thrilled to receive a generous $15,000 grant this year. These funds will help us provide Girls Inc. programs to even more girls!
The JLI is an educational and charitable organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Their vision is to be a catalyst for lasting change in the lives of children and families in our community. For more information about the Junior League of Indianapolis, check out their website.
