Heather Courtney, Controller
Heather Courtney is the controller for Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis. During her tenure at Girls Inc., Heather has managed the review for proposal process for both an auditor and investment manager, upgraded the accounting software, implemented tighter internal controls, and created a fixed asset inventory system. These accomplishments are in addition to her managing the financial health of the organization including the annual audit, budgeting, adhering to government regulations, and staffing the finance and investment committees.
Heather has more than 14 years of accounting experience with ten of those years in the nonprofit sector at Indiana Association of United Ways, Inc. Before joining Girls Inc., she served as the director of accounting services at IAUW, where she developed internal accounting controls for the Nonprofit Processing and Accounting Services (NPAS) and supervised accounting staff. She has served her community by volunteering on the financial issues committee for United Way of America, in various positions with Speedway Christian Church, and as treasurer of the Concerned Neighborhood Association.
