Indianapolis' Female Leaders Honored July 28

Girls and guests couldn’t stop talking about the 2011 “In Her Own Words” Touchstone Awards! Summer campers began the event by sharing their camp experience through exhibits, including displays about female authors, breaking gender stereotypes, and writing their own poetry.

Following the exhibit reception, guests gathered for lunch and the awards ceremony honoring Billie Dragoo, Marianne Glick, Dr. Beverley Pitts, and Nancy Silvers Rogers. Former Touchstone Award honoree Myra Borshoff Cook, APR chaired the event.

We would like to thank our sponsors who made this event possible: The Lilly Endowment, Inc., Christel DeHaan Family Foundation, Ball State University, Baker and Daniels, Citizens Energy Group, Gene B. Glick Company, The Indianapolis Colts, and the Lumina Foundation. We are especially grateful to Kroger and The National Bank of Indianapolis who provided a 2:1 challenge match for donations made at the event! With the help of our sponsors, generous guests, and supporters, Girls Inc. raised over $91,000 in total, which will be used to support girl programming in greater Indianapolis.

If you were unable to attend the Touchstone Awards, be sure to watch the “In Her Own Words” video that debuted at the luncheon and read more about the 2011 event
